Dear Lord Jesus,
We slept while you prayed in the garden. “If it be possible let this cup pass before me.” We ran away when they arrested you. We hid when they brought you before Pontius Pilate. We were the hypocrites, the naysayers, the adulterers, the unjust, the Pharisees, the money changers.
These sins of the sinners were pressed into wood. The wood became your cross and on this cross you were crucified. This was your ultimate sacrifice for our salvation. We now lay ourselves prostrate before you, humbled, thankful, slain in your spirit. Our hearts are broken from the whisper of your final breath. “Father, into thy hands I commend my spirit.” We knelt beside your holy mother, weeping as she wept. We can still hear the echo of your words, “You will be with me in paradise.”
Thank you Jesus. Thank you for the gift of yourself. Thank you Jesus. Even now, Lord Jesus, we are forgiven. Even now, Lord Jesus, we bring our sorrows, our repentance and place them at the foot of your cross knowing full well you will take them unto yourself. No greater love. Yes Jesus. No greater Love. Thank you Jesus. AMEN.
